Mexico City dump closing

They claim its recycling. I think its because they all either fled the drug wars or were killed in the violence.
Seriously, I agree with recycling as long as it saves money. Its a fools mission if it costs more to recycle then to just dump stuff and manufacture more. Recycle aluminum? Sure, its high value. Recycle glass? What ocean has a shortage of sand? Paper, wood, even plastic would be better being incinerated, and the BTUs produced used to produce electricity.
Mexico City can send their spare trash trucks to LA. All the smart ones headed for a sanctuary city.

The recycling program in my area is nothing but a scam run by the county government. They hit you in the first property tax installment with a fee for the service then profit from selling off the collected materials. If I had my way who ever came up with that plan would be serving time in prison.

Agreed. If it is not profitable to recycle, or at least cheaper then regular trash, it should just go as trash. Leave recycling to the people who want to pick through the mounds of debris, or the folks who want to seperate it themselves. Our local curbside is a voluntary effort. Th guy who runs it though ends up sending most of the stuff on with the regular refuse. Only aluminum, some plastics and glass are recycled. The paper and cardboard are not worth it right now.
