A waste of time
To me, the reading of the constitution today in the House was a waste of time. Its like teaching a pig to sing, all you do is frustrate yourself, and irritate the pig.
Dems will argue all day long about the meaning of the constitution. Its an easy argument for them to make because to them it is meaningless.
It may be too late to teach some of the entrenched democrats. Their average age is somewhere between over the hill, and senility, too late to retrain, too early to bury.
It is a symbolic gesture at best for now. Learning the Constitution needs to start in grade school, but first we must teach the teachers. These folks are generally of the mindset that there is no wrong answer, except the one that is right of course. Many if not most of them are of the liberal mindset, folks who take indecent liberties with the Constitution, the ones responsible for the dumbing down of America. To make themselves look better, and their job easier, they lowered the standards. Then they had to lower them again.
I have seen students who could barely read or do simple math make the honor roll because they now have classes for dummies. These kids are not fools, or retarded, merely under educated. yet they dumb down the curriculum. I know I have a bear of a time with spelling, always have, always will. That does not make me a retard. That is why I initially passed on College and opted for the Military.
Back to today's exercise in futility, its a step in the right direction. My dream is that some day, in order for a member of congress to be seated, he must be able to state a randomly selected section of the constitution. Not recite it, but at least able to clearly state the meaning or intent of the requested selection.
In all fairness, I seriously doubt that many of our judges understand the Constitution any more. From some of the rulings I have seen, especially those from the 9th Circus, It needs to be read aloud every week at the start of court sessions.
Every one agrees the constitution still has uses. Conservatives want to keep it as the framework for our government. Liberals want to use it for toilet paper.

Who's the Dumbass?
I was behind a pickup this morning whose window had the proud proclamation; "Hey DUMBASSES Aggieville is in ATM."
Now, for those of you who have never been to Manhattan Kansas, the district right across from the campus is known as Aggieville. A google search will return only one Aggieville in the nation, the one in Manhattan.
So why is a district near the home of the Wildcats named for a rival team in Texas? Its not! Originally the mascot of Kansas State was the Aggie, short for agriculture, and a common name for many land grant universities of which KSU is the first.
The original University was Blue Mont Central College. Beginning with the passage of the Morrill Act in 1862 which established Land grant Universities to teach agriculture and military tactics, a drive was underway in Kansas to open such a school. The first bill was vetoed by the Governor, a Lawrence man. That may explain the grudge between the schools. In 1863, a resubmission of the bill was passed and Kansas State Agricultural College was born.
Texas A&M was founded in 1871 under the Morrill Act as well. Many such schools popped up over the next few decades, and all were known as aggies. The only ones to retain the named and make it famous are the A&M crowd of Texas.
Aggieville in Manhattan came to life as a result of the need for students to buy books. its a long walk to down town, and in the early years that is where students needed to go for books and other supplies. IN 1898, a dining hall and book store were built closer to campus. It was shut down in 1899, and in September of that year was purchased by a group of students and reopened. Aggieville blossomed around it, and is the oldest shopping district in Kansas. As far as historical firsts, it was also the site of some of the earliest collegiate sports riots in 1984 and 1986.
Eventually 70 schools were founded under the various versions of the Morrill act. After the Civil War, many black only schools were started as a result of it, to prevent discrimination based on skin tone. States were required to show that race was not a criteria, or open a seperate school for blacks.
While A&M was initially a men only school, K State accepted men and women equally from its opening. Both schools have a proud military heritage, but to A&Ms credit, they graduate more military officers then any other school except the service academies. As a military man, I respect that. I just wish they would have educated the dumbass I saw this morning.

Racism
Accusations of racism are still rearing their ugly head in Kansas. Officials in Nickerson KS are being accused of dismissing a newly hired police officer because of race. The public statement is that the council wanted to be more involved in the hiring of police officers.
Sounds nobel on the face. I have my doubts. In a town that size, the chief should be entrusted with picking, in this case, her own officers. April did that. She happened to select a guy with darker skin. If the council has issues with his performance, let them speak up.
On an individual basis, I could care less about racism. When it is governments doing it, that is another matter. Individuals should have the right to discriminate, Governments not so.
Our presidope has set race back thirty years with his poor performance. Its going to be harder in years to come for blacks as America reels from the damage done by our afirmative action occupant of hte White House.
If the council is found to be right, and it is not about race but performance, then IMHO the NAACP should be made to pay 100% of the costs the city will incur over this.

SPIT!
Outgoing California Governor Ahnold Schwartznegger has commuted the sentence of Esteban Nunez, convicted of manslaughter in the stabbing murder of Luis Santos. Esteban is the son of former assemblyman Fabian Nunez, from Los Angeles.
I guess if you ever wondered if der gropenfurer was really a democrat or a republican, your question is now answered. Democrap through and through.
Esteban should be on death row.
