Today we commemorate the invasion of Normandy, the first big step in the rescue of Europe from despotism. 2,499 Americans gave their lives. Altogether somewhere between 9,000 and 12,000 Allied soldiers were wounded on that day. Records are sketchy and incomplete, and many are not honored for the sacrifice they made.
Sixty six years have passed. Many of our heros have also passed. Today, let us remember their bravery.
Thank you vets.
