How the Church is failing

The Christian Church has been in a slow slide for a number of decades. It is true the Church has never been perfect. 500 years ago the Catholic Church was selling indulgences to raise money for Rome. That led Martin Luther to post his 95 Thesis on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. Luther did not set out to start a new religion. His goal was to get the Catholic Church back on the straight and narrow. He also was not absolute in his stance, a thesis is a position for debate. He merely wanted to have an open and frank discussion about the many things he saw happening that he did not believe were following Scripture. The Catholic Church, wanting nothing to do with that gave him the boot.
Through the intervening 501 years the Church has split and fractured many times over many things. Today there are so many factions that it would take several volumes to catalog them all, not to mention what their doctrine entailed.
Some have wine at Communion, others insist on grape juice. Baptism is split between those who hold to infant baptism vs those who baptize adults. I could go on, but that is not the point of my rant.
Recently Christian singer Lauren Daigle appeared on the Hell'n Degenerate show. Afterward, she was criticized by numerous Christian groups and individuals. When asked if homosexuality was a sin, Lauren replied she did not know. Seriously. I'm not joking. A woman who writes and sings music under the Christian label has no clue that GOD condemns homosexuality, and not just in the writings of Paul. The early Law that GOD handed down made it clear that homosexuality, beastiality, adultery, rape and a host of other things were abominations to Him.
Some people liken eating pork to homosexuality, but GOD did not require his people to stone folks for having bacon at breakfast. Jesus in fact stated it was not what went into our mouths that makes us unclean but what came out from our hearts.
Some folks say we should show love and be accepting to deviants. I'd include all sexual deviants btw. The Bible is quite clear, shun any Christian who will not turn aside from their wrong ways.
Things like this seriously hurt the Church. the rifts between the many denominations are viewed by some as proof that the Bible is unreliable. Sorry, but it is us men and women who are unreliable. We can debate until the cows come home about wine vs grape juice, but whether to ordain homosexuals adulterers rapists and killers is made quite clear in the Bible. I can never accept a position as an Elder in a church because I am twice divorced. That does not mean I cannot serve GOD in other ways. Leader though is OUT.
As for Lauren, she needs to take a few days, sit down with her Bible and read it for herself. That might give her a clue or three.
